Airbus Looks to Add to Its Ohio Suppliers U.S. Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown and Airbus Americas Chairman Allan McArtor announced the formalization of a partnership between Airbus and Ohio suppliers aimed at growing the state’s aerospace industry. Airbus is the European aircraft builder headquartered in France that gets about 45% of its components from companies in the United States. Last year, Airbus spent $3.96 billion procuring components from Ohio entities, ranking the state first for Airbus spending in the United States. According to the Ohio Aerospace Institute, more than 1,200 Ohio companies do business with the aerospace industry. Two local suppliers to Airbus are The Timken Company and RTI International. Brown and McArtor announced that they will be co-hosting two procurement conferences in Ohio. The conferences, which are aimed at growing the state’s aerospace industry by identifying new contract opportunities, will enable Ohio companies to meet one-on-one with representatives from Airbus. The first conference will be held on Monday, December 7, 2009, at the Ohio Aerospace Institute in Cleveland. We are encouraging Stark County manufacturers that make aerospace components to register for the Cleveland conference in early November at www.OAI.org.
